Fun experiment in food photography
| The tasty pastrami sandwich below “served” in a New York deli, was actually shot in our Amsterdam studio. Experimenting with the theory “what you see is not always what your get”. An autonomous series, shot in collaboration with food stylist Oliver Knight and props stylist Jan-Willem van Riel.
In this fun project we experimented with staging photography as if it were shot on location. To accomplish this we created a blurry, atmospheric surrounding by using a shallow depth of field. In order to realize a natural feel to the images, we added mixed colours to the lighting.
We built a versatile “location” set in our studio and together with the wonderful props and help of set stylist Jan-Willem van Riel created these realistic yet stunning settings. Last but not least, we asked one of our top food stylists, Oliver Knight, to prepare the food. The result is mouthwatering, yam!
Some moving content of this projects is also on the way and will be posted later, so tune in again soon.
